The Blake Horrocks Memorial Scholarship is given annually to a junior player at the Glenelg Baseball Club. The winner receives a fully paid baseball scholarship to the Adelaide Bite Academy which is run during the offseason. First awarded in 2013, it is named in loving memory of Blake “Squid” Horrocks after he was tragically taken from us on 17th December 2012, aged 19. As a junior player Squid represented SA numerous times at the nationals, in his first senior season he won the Ron Sharpe Medal in 2011 for the best & fairest player in division II of the SABL. The GBC aims for this award to offer winners additional opportunities to improve their skills and personal growth as a young person.
